Dear Professor Graham-Jones
I was terribly moved by Daniel's passing - I had emailed him just this morning with thoughts on my presentations for this semester, and so it was quite a shock. He was, as I'm sure you know, in brilliant teaching form just last Thursday. He was the best teacher I ever had, and directly responsible for my opting to undertake a Ph.D. at the Graduate Center. It saddens me that I will never be able to thank him adequately for all the knowledge and inspiration he shared so generously with myself and his other students, or for the extraordinary impact he had on my life.
